The Locman Mare Collection
Locman, the watch company headquartered on the Island of Elba, once again wished to pay tribute to the splendid sea surrounding it and to celebrate its close ties with this element by presenting the latest version of the already greatly appreciated MARE line: the SQUALO (in Italian, “shark”) model. Whether in the version with a self-winding mechanical movement or the quartz-driven chronograph alternative, SQUALO immediately captures the gaze by the distinctive rotating bezel enhanced by a colourful insert printed with large Arabic numerals alternating with hour-markers that guarantee optimal readability and facilitate read-off below the water. The bezel itself is also stamped with the silhouette of the shark joining up the 0 of the 20 numeral. This signature feature of the model is also engraved in the centre of the titanium case-back.
Locman is thus launching a new and original model dedicated to sea lovers, which – like the namesake shark – is distinguished by its sturdiness and the aggressive, outsized shapes, thereby optimising not only the aesthetic impact but also the technical performances of the watch through a constant quest for highly innovative solutions and the development of high-tech materials with inimitable functions.
The large-sized SQUALO is fitted with a case in satin-brushed titanium, an alloy developed in the LOCMAN laboratories so as to improve its biocompatible properties, which also proves both super-light and highly resistant. Titanium is also used to make the entire central body of the watch fitted with a knurled crown with a triple o-ring seal – a special device that ensures extreme water resistance, as well as with shaped pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock in the chronograph version – also fitted with double o-rings inside the pusher protector. This absolute reliability is also guaranteed by a case-back secured with four screws, a flat scratch-resistant glass thick enough to guarantee resistance to extremely high pressures, and a steel folding clasp with double safety fastening.
In addition to its technical specifications designed for professional use, the SQUALO also boasts the special characteristics such as the resistance to impacts, the extreme lightness and the watertightness typical of the Mare watch line which has always been the best-seller among the Locman Italy collections. SQUALO thus asserts itself as the perfect and reliable diving companion.
In its chronograph version, SQUALO is available in three different black, orange and silvered dial versions, and displays the minute and hour counters at 12 and 9 o’clock respectively.
Meanwhile, the permanent seconds counter of the watch appears at 6 o’clock, while the large central hand marks off the chronograph seconds.
All the hands, apart from the long central seconds pointer, are luminescent to guarantee optimal readability both at night and under water. In the standard watch version with a self-winding movement, SQUALO comes with a blue or black dial.
Nothing has been left to chance in creating this model featuring extreme technical characteristics and available with classic matt black or coloured rubber straps which feature special air holes ensuring they remain perfectly breathable even in extreme heat.
To meet all tastes and the varied demands of its clientele, Locman also offers a wristband in titanium and thermoplastic resin, or a Cordura strap in a choice of colours.
Presented in an oversize version, the SQUALO model – like all the other models in the Mare line - is guaranteed water-resistant to 10 atmospheres.
